Introduction to HAVAH and ICON HD Paths
HAVAH and ICON addresses are derived according to specific hierarchical deterministic (HD) paths. These paths are generally established in this open repository.
HAVAH HD Path: 0x8000035a
ICON HD Path: 0x8000004a
How Hana Derives Addresses
Initial Approach
HAVAH Address Derivation
Initially, Hana adopted the HAVAH path for address derivation. This means that when a HAVAH Wallet user imports their seed phrase into Hana, their assets will load correctly since Hana uses the same HD path as the original HAVAH Wallet.
ICON Address Derivation
When Hana derives ICON addresses according to the ICON HD path, this results in the same wallet addresses for ICON and HAVAH.
Future Address Derivation
In the future, Hana will derive the default HAVAH addresses according to the ICON HD path. This change ensures that HAVAH and ICON wallet addresses for new accounts will be the same.
Managing HAVAH Addresses in Advanced Settings
Hana provides flexibility in managing your HAVAH addresses through advanced settings:
Toggle HAVAH Address: An option is available in the advanced settings to toggle the HAVAH address back to the original HAVAH HD path derived address.
Two Addresses for HAVAH Chain: Users will have two addresses for the HAVAH chain: one that matches the ICON address and one that is different.
Enable One Address at a Time: Only one address can be enabled at a time in the wallet. The toggle in advanced settings allows users to switch between the two addresses.
💡Imported Wallets Exemption:
Wallets that have been imported with private keys will have always had the ICON HD path enabled. Therefore the ICON and HAVAH addresses for these wallets will always remain unified.
Step-by-Step Guide to Toggling HAVAH Addresses
Click or tap the hamburger menu (☰).
Click or tap Settings.
Access Advanced Settings
Toggle HAVAH Address:
Locate the dropdown to select the HAVAH HD Path.
Switch between the original HAVAH HD path derived address and the ICON HD path derived address.
Conclusion
Hana’s advanced settings provide users with the flexibility to manage their HAVAH addresses according to their preferences. By understanding the derivation paths and using the toggle feature, users can ensure that their addresses align with their needs.
