Why Should I Use Google Pay?

If you load your Hana card into Google Pay you can make purchases in-store at merchants that support contactless payments.

How do you set up Google Pay?

To set up Google Pay, you’ll need:

  • Your card details, including the card number, CVV, and expiry date.

  • A device running Android 9 or higher.

  • An NFC-enabled phone. To check if your phone supports NFC, open Settings. In the search bar, type "NFC" and toggle it on. If you can’t find NFC, your phone does not support contactless payments.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the Google Wallet app.

  2. Tap Add to Wallet at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap Payment card.

  4. If you’ve saved cards to your Google Account, they’ll appear. Tap New credit or debit card to add a card.

  5. Use your camera to capture card details or tap Enter details manually.

  6. Tap Save and continue.

  7. Read the issuer terms and tap Accept.

  8. If verification is needed, choose your preferred method and complete it.

  9. Agree to the terms and conditions to finish the setup.

Why can’t you add your card to Google Wallet?

If you’re having trouble adding your card to Google Wallet, these may be the causes:

  1. “Couldn’t finish card setup for tap to pay”:

An issue occurred during the setup. Try again later.

  2. “This phone can’t be set up to tap to pay”:

This issue may occur due to:

    • No NFC technology: Your phone must support NFC for contactless payments. Check if NFC is enabled.

    • Security standards not met: If your phone has technical modifications, it may not meet security requirements.

    • Rooted device: Modified software can compromise security and cause issues with Google Pay.

    • Custom ROM or unlocked bootloader: Modified operating systems or bootloaders may not meet Google Pay’s security requirements.

    • Uncertified software: Software that isn’t approved by the manufacturer or Google may prevent contactless payments.

If your card can’t be set up for tap to pay, you can still use it to:

  • Purchase Google products and services.

  • Pay on apps or websites that support Google Pay or have a "Buy with GPay" button.

What Happens If You Don’t Receive the Verification Code?

If you didn’t receive the OTP (one-time password), it’s likely that your mobile phone number or email address is incorrect.

Here’s what to do:

  • Confirm that your email and phone number in Hana under Settings/Contact details is correct.

  • If updates are needed, you can do this in the Hana app.

Once your contact details are updated and confirmed, try adding your card again.
